Five things to always remember
These five principles underlie every specific rule in this document.
Be respectful
Treat every other user as you would like to be treated. Disagreement is fine — disrespect is not.
Be honest
Don't post false information, fake reviews, or misleading content. Represent your knowledge accurately.
Be helpful
The purpose of this community is learning. Contribute things that genuinely add value for other learners.
Stay on topic
Keep contributions relevant to education, learning, and the course or discussion you're participating in.
Report, don't retaliate
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report tools. Don't respond with harassment.
Prohibited Behaviour
What's not allowed
These categories are prohibited across every iGurus community space.
Zero-tolerance — immediate permanent ban
CSAM (child sexual abuse material), credible threats of violence against identifiable individuals, and doxxing to facilitate harm result in immediate permanent termination and mandatory law enforcement referral. No appeal is available for these violations.
Harassment & Abuse
Repeated unwanted contact, insults, threats, or coordinating others to pile on a user.
Hate Speech
Content that demeans individuals or groups based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or other protected characteristics.
Threats & Incitement
Direct or implied threats of physical harm or violence against any person or group.
Spam & Promotion
Repetitive off-topic posts, unsolicited affiliate links, or commercial promotion of other platforms.
Misinformation
Deliberately posting false information as fact, including fake credentials or harmful medical advice.
Impersonation
Pretending to be another user, instructor, or iGurus employee, or using a profile designed to deceive.
Privacy Violations
Sharing another person's private contact details, address, or photographs without their consent.
Explicit Content
Sexually explicit content or unsolicited sexual messages. iGurus is a general-audience platform.
Off-Platform Solicitation
Using community features to redirect users to competitors or solicit private tutoring outside iGurus.
Rating Manipulation
Using multiple accounts or bots to artificially inflate or deflate vote scores or course ratings.
Evading Moderation
Creating new accounts to circumvent a ban, or restoring content that was removed by a moderator.
IP Infringement
Reproducing copyrighted text, images, or video without permission in community posts or comments.
Severity indicator: Severe Serious Moderate Policy violation
Reporting
How to report content
Every community space has a built-in report tool. Use it — we review every report.
Sparx
Use the Report button on any Sparx. Select a reason and add an optional description. Anonymous to the creator.
Sparx Comments
Use the Report button on any comment. One report per user per comment. Includes reason + description.
Lesson Content
Use Report Abuse inside the learning player. Include issue type and a brief description of the problem.
Klips
Use the … menu on any Klip and select Report. Separate options exist for "Not interested" and "Send Feedback". Reports are anonymous to the uploader.
Forum Threads
Email legal@igurus.org with the thread URL and a short description of the violation.
Urgent / Safety
Use the in-platform tool AND email legal@igurus.org with "URGENT" in the subject line.
Moderation
How we enforce these guidelines
iGurus applies enforcement proportionately. Severe violations skip straight to ban.
Content Removal
Violating content is removed. You may be notified of the reason.
Warning
A formal warning is logged on your account. Repeated warnings escalate.
Suspension
Community features suspended 7–30 days. Course access retained.
Permanent Ban
Account terminated. Cannot create a new account. Some bans are non-appealable.
Appeals: Dispute a moderation decision by emailing legal@igurus.org with subject line "Moderation Appeal". Include your account email, the action taken, and your reason for appeal. We respond within 10 business days. Bans for CSAM or threats of violence are not subject to appeal.
Full Policy
Detailed guidelines
The complete, legally operative text for each community space.
Scope & Applicability
These guidelines apply to all registered iGurus users — learners, instructors, and administrators — without exception. By creating an account you agree to abide by these guidelines alongside the Terms & Conditions.
These guidelines govern all community interaction spaces on the iGurus platform, including the Community Forum, course Q&A threads, Sparx comments, Klips comments, and course reviews. They apply to all content — text, images, links, and video — published within those spaces.
iGurus is open to users aged 13 and over. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent where required by local law. You are responsible for ensuring your use of community features complies with the laws of your jurisdiction.
iGurus may update these guidelines at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or a prominent platform notice. Continued use of community features after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
Forum & Q&A Conduct
Questions: Provide enough context — the course or lesson you're asking about, what you've already tried, and the specific problem. Vague questions get fewer answers.
Replies: Be accurate and constructive. If you're uncertain, say so. Don't use replies to advertise your own courses or external services.
Voting: Upvote helpful, accurate content. Downvote incorrect or off-topic content — not content you simply disagree with philosophically.
Best answers: If a reply solved your question, mark it as the best answer. This helps future learners with the same question find the solution quickly.
Instructors in Q&A: Instructors are expected to monitor and respond to questions within their own courses in a timely manner. Persistent non-responsiveness may be taken into account in platform quality reviews.
Sparx Conduct
Comments on Sparx must be relevant to the video content and add value to other viewers. All prohibited behaviour in §3 applies in full. Like or dislike a comment to signal quality. Replies should be respectful and on-topic.
Comment quality: Comments should be substantive — avoid single-word reactions, emoji-only posts, and repetitive filler that doesn't contribute to understanding the content. Questions about the Sparx topic are encouraged; off-topic discussions should be taken to the Community Forum.
Voting on comments: Use the like and dislike buttons to surface helpful comments. Do not coordinate with others to mass-upvote your own comments or mass-downvote others' comments. Coordinated vote manipulation is treated as rating manipulation under §3 and may result in account suspension.
Instructor Sparx: Sparx published by instructors must meet the content standards set out in the Instructor Agreement. Instructors found to have repeatedly published violating Sparx may have their Sparx publishing rights removed.
Reporting Sparx comments: Use the Report button on the individual comment, select a reason from the menu, and add an optional description. Reports are reviewed within 5 business days. Your identity is not disclosed to the commenter or the Sparx uploader.
Klips Content Standards
These standards apply to all Klips uploaded to iGurus — whether by students (via My Klips) or by instructors (as course-attached Klips). By uploading a Klip you confirm you have all necessary rights to do so.
Format & educational purpose: Klips must be vertical video, no longer than 3 minutes, and must contain educational or informational content relevant to a course topic or field of study on iGurus. Purely entertainment, promotional, or personal content is not permitted.
Intellectual property: You must own or hold a verifiable licence for all audio, video, music, text, and imagery in your Klips. Content reported under DMCA will be removed without prior notice.
People in your Klips: If another identifiable person appears in your Klip — on camera, in the audio, or otherwise recognisable — you must have their consent to film and upload them. This applies whether or not they're an iGurus user. Uploading someone without their consent may be removed under this policy regardless of whether it also qualifies as harassment or a privacy violation under §3.
Accuracy & no advertising: Do not misrepresent facts or credentials. Klips may not promote external products, services, or courses on other platforms, or solicit learners to contact you outside iGurus.
Comments on Klips: All community-wide prohibited behaviour (§3) applies. iGurus moderates Klips comments under the same enforcement ladder as other community spaces.
Reporting & outcomes: Use the … overflow menu on any Short and select Report. Your identity is not disclosed to the uploader. iGurus reviews every report within 5 business days (urgent content within 24 hours). Outcomes: no action, content removal, or account suspension per §5. Uploaders may appeal a removal by emailing legal@igurus.org (subject: "Shorts Removal Appeal") within 14 days.
Ownership: You retain ownership of uploaded content. You grant iGurus a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display the Klips on the platform. You may delete your Klips at any time; iGurus may retain copies for moderation purposes for up to 90 days.
Course Reviews
Only students who have enrolled in and accessed a course may leave a review for that course. You may leave one review per course, which you can update at any time.
Honesty: Your review must reflect your genuine opinion. Disclose any personal or financial relationship with the instructor that could bias your review.
No incentivised reviews: You must not post a review in exchange for a benefit — such as a refund or additional content. If an instructor has offered you an incentive, report it to legal@igurus.org.
Instructor responses: Instructors may respond publicly to reviews, but must not demean or threaten reviewers. iGurus does not remove honest negative reviews simply because an instructor disagrees with them.
Intellectual Property
Content you post to community spaces remains your intellectual property. By posting it, you grant iGurus a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display that content as part of the platform.
You must not post content that infringes others' intellectual property. This includes copying copyrighted text, images, or video without permission, reproducing song lyrics, or re-uploading third-party videos. For DMCA takedown requests, see the IP Policy or email legal@igurus.org.
DMCA takedown: To submit a copyright takedown notice, email legal@igurus.org with the subject line "DMCA Takedown". Include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) the URL of the infringing content; (c) your contact details; and (d) a statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorised. We process valid takedown notices within 10 business days.
Counter-notice: If your content was removed and you believe this was in error, email legal@igurus.org with subject line "DMCA Counter-Notice". Include your contact details, a description of the removed content, and a statement that the removal was made in error. After receiving a valid counter-notice, iGurus may restore the content within 10–14 business days unless the complaining party initiates legal proceedings.
